Recording your simulation session
Record X-ray Pro VR, RadSafe VR, or BirthWise VR on a Meta Quest, HTC Vive or other PC headset, Windows PC, or Mac, and share the video.
Some assignments ask you to record your simulation and share the video with your instructor. This works for X-ray Pro VR, RadSafe VR and BirthWise VR, whether you use a standalone Meta Quest, a headset connected to a PC (HTC Vive, Vive Pro, Vive Pro 2, Valve Index or Meta Quest with Link), or the Desktop version on a computer.
Before your first class
Set up cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud or Dropbox) and check you can share a link with your instructor. If your headset belongs to your institution, it controls whether recording is allowed. Ask your instructor if the Camera option is missing.
In a standalone Meta Quest headset
- Open the simulation and get to where you want to start.
- Press the Meta button on the right controller.
- Select Camera, then Record video. A red dot shows it is recording.
- To stop: press the Meta button, select Camera, then Recording.
- Find your video in Files (Media or Recents) or in the Gallery app.

With a headset connected to a PC
For HTC Vive, Vive Pro, Vive Pro 2, Valve Index, or a Meta Quest using Link or Air Link. While you are in VR, the simulation window on the PC monitor shows what you see in the headset, so you record that window.
- Start the simulation in VR as usual.
- On the PC, click once on the simulation window on the monitor so it is selected. You can ask someone to do this, or do it before you put the headset on.
- Press Windows key + Alt + R to start recording with Xbox Game Bar.
- When you have finished, press Windows key + Alt + R again to stop.
- Find your video in Videos, in the Captures folder.
On a Windows PC (Desktop version)
- Open the simulation window.
- Press Windows key + Alt + R to start recording with Xbox Game Bar.
- Press Windows key + Alt + R again to stop.
- Find your video in Videos, in the Captures folder.

On a Mac (Desktop version)
- Open the simulation window.
- Press Shift + Command + 5 to open the Screenshot toolbar.
- Choose Record Entire Screen or Record Selected Portion, then click Record.
- To stop, click the Stop button in the menu bar, or press Command + Control + Esc.
- Find your video on your desktop, named "Screen Recording" with the date and time.

Share it with your instructor
- Upload the video to your cloud storage. On a headset, you can upload from the headset's browser or move the file to a computer first.
- Copy the share link and check it can be opened by your instructor.
- Submit the link the way your instructor asks.
Still stuck?
- Recording is a feature of your headset or computer, not of the simulation, so Meta's, Microsoft's and Apple's guides above are the best place to start.
- Ask the chatbot: the Ask me anything box, bottom right of any Help Center page.
- Still stuck? Submit a help ticket.
Help us fix it first time. A ticket that only says "it's not working" doesn't tell us what has gone wrong, so we can't fix it. We'll have to write back and ask for details, which slows everything down. Please include which simulation, your headset or computer model, which method above you tried, and the step it stopped at.
