What is the desktop version?

Wondering what the desktop simulation is and how it works with the VR version?

What is the desktop version, and how is it different from the VR version

Our desktop simulation is designed to be used with a computer or laptop, allowing learners to navigate using a mouse and keyboard rather than a VR headset. It was originally developed during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure students could continue training remotely when they couldn't access campus or VR equipment. Due to its popularity, we have kept the desktop version available. It is currently offered for both our Radiography and Radiation Safety simulations.

Do the Desktop and VR editions work together?

Yes. Both editions are designed to work together. Learners can practice on their laptops at home if they do not have a VR headset. They have access to both versions through the same online environment. The simulation space they choose determines which environment is used to launch the scenario they wish to complete.

Does the desktop solution work for both Mac (Apple) and Windows (Microsoft)?

Yes, the desktop simulations work on both Windows and Mac operating system laptop or computer. However, the desktop simulation itself is too resource-intensive to run off a tablet or iPad - the program needs to be downloaded onto a laptop or computer. Learners can complete the cloud-based Self Assessment Modules on a tablet and complete the simulation on a different device if they wish to.
